In September we thought a super way to launch our Active School intentions was to participate in the European Week of Sport. The whole school had to take turns doing daily laps around the yard. Each lap was equivalent to 1KM. Our goal was to see how many countries we could visit in Europe and where we could reach by the end of the week.
The beginning of the week was tough with each class building up their speed and stamina but by the end of the week our pupils had achieved great heights. We managed to travel from Dublin to Germany, Spain and France…finally ending up in Russia by Friday!
The teachers noted how the extra exercise during the day improved concentration and the children were feeling fitter and healthier by the end of the week. Here are some pictures to show our superstar lap runners!
